Robert W. Mulcahey
President, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Mulcahey has more than 30 years’ experience in healthcare management, legal and regulatory affairs, risk management and insurance. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Stratum he has overall responsibility for the operations and strategic direction of the company. Mr. Mulcahey also serves as President of Stratum Brokerage Company, LLC, a wholly owned insurance brokerage firm.
Prior to joining Stratum, Mr. Mulcahey served as an executive and counsel for a Chicago area health system. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois and Chicago-Kent College of Law and is a member of the Illinois Bar. In addition, Mr. Mulcahey currently serves as a volunteer for the United Way of Champaign County and previously served as a Director and Chairman of the Board of the United Way
W. Trent Kramer
Vice President, Chief Administrative & Development Officer
Mr. Kramer has over 14 years’ experience in healthcare management with a concentration in finance, insurance, information technology and marketing. As Vice President, Chief Administrative and Development Officer, Mr. Kramer has direct responsibility over the establishment of strategic partnerships and program development. Mr. Kramer also provides support and oversight to Stratum Brokerage Company, LLC, a wholly owned insurance brokerage firm.
In addition to his role at Stratum, Mr. Kramer serves as Executive Director of Northwest Medical Group Alliance, a trade group of Washington state's largest, independent, multispecialty group practices. The primary charter of the organization is to generate creative, yet practical initiatives which promote the success and sustainability of independent group practices.
Prior to joining Stratum, Mr. Kramer served as Executive Director of a Midwest-based Physician Organization owned by over 150 physicians. Additionally, he shared responsibility in the management and the operations of a Physician/Hospital Organization in Central Illinois. Mr. Kramer attended the University of Illinois for both his undergraduate and graduate studies where he earned a BS in Finance and a Masters in Business Administration.
Executive Director of Purchasing and Support Enterprises
Ms. Pellum has more than 35 years in healthcare management. Her experience includes business services, support enterprises, compliance and clinical purchasing. As the Executive Director of Group Purchasing she works directly with the materials, laboratory and radiology managers. Through coordinated efforts she orchestrates and leverages the buying power of Stratum members to achieve savings and consolidates purchasing activities to achieve preferred partner relationships. These relationships enable participating members to obtain pricing advantages that would not ordinarily be available to stand alone facilities.
Prior to joining Stratum, Ms. Pellum held the positions of Support Services Director and Business Services Director for a 75-physician multi-specialty group. Her undergraduate degree is from Eastern Illinois University and she has a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Illinois.
Lucas C. Thurman
Executive Director, Partnerships and Executive Search
Mr. Thurman is responsible for relationships and connectivity amongst the Stratum collaborative and with vendors or industry partners. Mr. Thurman oversees several peer work groups including Operations, Marketing, IT and Value Based Care. He contributes to the growth of multiple service lines including recruitment, insurance, Group Purchasing and other Business Solutions through the cultivation of relationships with both shareholders and prospective clients. As a part of Stratum's Consortium Management service line, Mr. Thurman serves as the Administrative Director for the Specialty Independent Practice Association of Kansas (SIPAK) providing leadership & guidance of local initiatives in the Wichita, KS market.
Mr. Thurman also oversees the Executive Search team providing recruitment service and expertise for high-level executive and physician leadership roles for large medical groups, integrated healthcare delivery systems as well as health plans. In addition, Mr. Thurman supports Stratum with marketing concepts and communication strategies to effectively build company brand awareness, market perception and promotional consistencies.
Mr. Thurman has over 7 years of healthcare administrative experience and 20 years of experience in successful customer and client services. These diverse experiences include the creation and implementation of marketing, public relations and business development strategies for both public and private entities as well as all facets of sales including Fortune 500, corporate and public support. In addition, he brings 12 years of recruitment practice consisting of internal team development and external talent acquisition as well as leadership within strategic planning and organizational development. Mr. Thurman holds a degree in Business/Marketing from Eastern Illinois University as well as additional Marketing and Psychology degrees and graduate studies from the University of Illinois.
Jennifer G. Vallowe
Executive Director of Physician Recruiting and Member Services
Jennifer Vallowe joined Stratum in August 2012 after spending the first part of her career in the marketing arena, both at an agency and on the brand side for a Fortune 500 company. Just prior to starting at Stratum, Jennifer worked in the healthcare development field. All these experiences shaped expertise in project management, relationship building, problem-solving and assisting in new solution recommendations.
At Stratum, Jennifer oversees the Business Office and Shared Services functions, leading focused work groups, researching cost savings solutions, managing product enhancements through vendor relationships and facilitating networking opportunities for Stratum members and clients. She also serves as Stratum’s insurance product liaison between new prospects and current participants.
Additionally, Jennifer shares supervision responsibilities of the Stratum Recruitment Department, including physician and advanced practitioner recruitment, Locum Tenens placements, candidate referencing and unique sourcing opportunities for Stratum’s current searches.
Jennifer obtained a Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is very involved in the community through such organizations as United Way and Executive Club of Champaign County, in addition to participating in young leadership opportunities.
Executive Director, Stratum Insurance Services / Vice President, Stratum Brokerage Company LLC
Mr. Wills has 19 years of experience in the insurance industry with a focus on underwriting and marketing. Mr. Wills has direct responsibility over Stratum Brokerage Company, a wholly owned insurance brokerage firm. He leads Stratum’s insurance division with a focus on developing innovative insurance products and services to the benefit of our shareholders and clients.
Mr. Wills most recently served a Health Alliance’s Commercial Sales and Retention Manager transitioning to a sales role after serving several years as a senior underwriter. Previous to Health Alliance, Mr. Wills spent 14 years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company with increasing levels of responsibility during his tenure. Most notably, he was promoted to the position of Global Operations Support Team Manager after having held the role of Project Manager, Underwriting within the Group Life, Long Term Disability, and Dental coverages.
Mr. Wills attended Wheaton College for his undergraduate studies where he earned a BA in Business/Economics.
Director, Development and Support Services
Nick has 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry with a focus in sales and supply chain. Nick has direct responsibility for Stratum’s GPO development while driving value-added Stratum solutions in Recruitment (Physician and Executive) and Insurance to the benefit of Stratum shareholders and clients.
Nick most recently served as the Collaborative Development Administrator at OSF Healthcare System where he focused on the recruitment and retention of new members across the continuum of care as it relates to supply chain and GPO services.
Nick attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis for his undergraduate studies where he earned a BS in Education with emphasis in Business Administration.
Cindy has been with Stratum since its inception in 1996 and handles a plethora of duties. She is responsible for providing office management and administrative assistance to the Executive Staff to maintain cohesiveness in day-to-day office functions and operations.
Cindy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music and an Associate’s in business from Illinois State University, and enjoys taking long walks with her husband and her golden retriever named Alli.
Administrative Assistant to the CEO
Jean rejoined the Stratum team in 2008. With her 25 years plus in the health care industry Jean has functioned in several different arenas. Along with her assistance to the CEO , she prepares the monthly client billings , maintains the billing records and provides assistance to the day-to-day office functions.
Having many interests; her most favorite is the time she and her husband spend with their three grandchildren.
